How to Relax

When on tour I am often asked how do I find time to relax? Your schedule is so hectic you must be tense alot? This is what I do to relax on the road. This technique will help anyone.

Often it is difficult to find the time and space to practice a little relaxation, so it is a good idea to create some in your imagination.

1. Get into a comfortable position and close your eyes.

2. Imagine a beautiful place, outside of time and space, where you can go to do your relaxation exercises.

3. This can be a real place that you have visited, where you did feel relaxed and calm, or you can create an entirely imaginary environment. You can create an enclosed room, or an unbounded space.

4. Once you have done this you should fill the space with things that bring you peace and/or give you pleasure.

5. You may wish to have a door, or barrier around the area so that nobody else may enter uninvited.

6. You may also wish to have some kind of path or staircase leading to your space.

7. Once you have built it, spend a few minutes exploring and getting to know your 'relaxation space'. You can add other things to your space at a later date.

8. When you are ready you may open your eyes and come back to the 'real' world, but just before you do, say to yourself, "whenever I come to this space I am relaxed and calm and at peace with myself."
